Dear Resident,

#APPEAL | We’re continuing to appeal for information after shots were fired on a street in Dudley.

It’s believed a gun was fired by one group of young men towards a second group on Poplar Green, but at this stage it’s not believed anyone was injured.

It happened at around 1.50pm on Saturday 1 August.

Our officers have been working since then to establish who was involved, and the motivation for what happened.

Our Major Crime Unit (MCU) is leading the investigation, and we have been carrying out CCTV and house to house enquiries since the shooting.  

Extra patrols are taking place in the area.

Det Insp Hope Grimson, of our MCU, said: "We know people in the area will be concerned by the use of a firearm, but I want to reassure them that we are doing everything we can to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.

"I’d urge anyone who knows the identity of any of those involved in yesterday’s incident to do the right thing and speak to us."
